1. Competency-Based Training: IWCF often emphasizes competency-based training, where candidates are assessed not only on their knowledge but also on their practical skills and ability to apply well control principles effectively.
2. Learner Preassessment: PWCI center facilitates pre-assessment of the learners prior to the actual training for an estimate of their knowledge, skill level as well as interests and learning styles. This helps set prerequisites for advanced courses to ensure learners have the required knowledge while helping the instructor to optimize and emphasize on the aspects needing extra focus.
3. Classroom Training: Classroom-based training is a common method used by the PWCI IWCF Primary Accredited Centre. Instructors deliver well control content to candidates in a traditional classroom setting. This approach allows for direct interaction between instructors and candidates, providing opportunities for questions and discussions.
4. Practical Exercises: Apart from simulator training, PWCI Primary Accredited Centre includes hands-on practical exercises as part of the training programs. These exercises involve equipment handling, well control equipment inspections, and other essential tasks related to well control operations.
5. Simulator Training: Simulators offer a controlled and realistic environment where candidates can practise responding to well control scenarios without the risk associated with real drilling operations. It allows them to develop their problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities in a safe and immersive setting. Based on the recommendations of IWCF on simulator training, the PWCI centre offers the use of advanced drilling simulator (available inhouse) for practical training for the participants. Participants are given a daily hands-on practice on the simulator.
6. Training Courses: PWCI, as an IWCF accredited Primary centre, offers various IWCF approved well control training courses, depending on the certification level (e.g., Driller, Supervisor) and specialisation (e.g., Surface, Combined Surface and Subsea). These courses typically consist of classroom-based theoretical training and practical exercises to teach candidates the necessary well control principles, procedures, and best practices.
7. Training Material: IWCF training materials/instructions/presentations are carefully curated, regularly updated and duly referenced by PWCI to ensure they meet industry standards and best practices. As an Accredited Centre, PWCI uses these self-generated course materials as per approved IWCF norms to deliver consistent and high-quality training to candidates.
